The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke says there are roughly 764,000 children and adults in the United States with one or more symptoms of Cerebral Palsy,a disease that affects body movement and muscle coordination.
Saturday, United Cerebral Palsy of Tallahassee, also known as UCB held their 12th annual Roll-A-Thon.
Hundreds of volunteers and those with Cerebral Palsy rolled down a five mile stretch of the Saint Marks Trail for a day of fresh air, fun and sunshine.
"We don't want to ever be looked at as isolated or separate from society and I think to the degree that you can do these types of events really opens the door and expands everybody's horizons," says Ron Sanders, Regional Director of United Cerebral Palsy of Tallahassee.
Organizers say the event raised roughly $12,000.
All the proceeds go to the local branch of UCB, which offers services to 120 adults with multiple disabilities.
