Jeb Bush is backing his brother’s latest choice for the US Supreme Court.
On Monday, President Bush picked his own attorney to fill the seat being vacated by Sandra Day O’Conner. Governor Bush says he had a chance to talk with Harriet Miers a couple of times and believes she is a good selection.
“She’s the first woman to be the head of the Texas Bar; I think she’s the first woman to be the head of the Dallas Bar, first woman partner of a very prestigious law firm in Dallas. She has been a trusted advisor of the president not just on legal matters but on policy matters so I think she’ll be a fine choice.”
Bush doesn’t actually have a say in the nomination, but Florida Senator Bill Nelson does, and he’s not taking a position on the nomination just yet.
