The Affiliated Computer Services-sponsored dental initiative is a program that provides free dental screenings for children throughout Georgia.
Organizers say the first step is an educational video, then the kids meet with dentists who check for cavities, and teach kids to properly brush and care for their teeth.
Dr. Alfred Wyatt, President of the Georgia Dental Society, says, "We know that dental disease is prevalent among very young children. It's keeping them from succeeding and excelling in school like they should, so our purpose is to make sure we identify problems as they exist and help children correct the problem."
After the screenings, the children get a goody bag with a toothbrush, toothpaste, and a t-shirt to help them continue to care for their teeth.
