Halloween Safety Tips

Last minute shoppers are finding a lot of empty shelves as they search for that perfect Halloween costume.

The National Safety Council offers a few tips before heading out. Make sure to feed your child; sending them out on an empty stomach will make them more tempted to snack on candy before you have inspected it.

If you can't go out with your child, consider holding a party at your home.

Jacquelyn Bradham is a mother who has decided to have children over rather then sending her daughter out.

"If you have little kids like my little girl, it would be safer to have it inside instead of having her walk up and down the block, so yeah, last year there was so many kids out and there were more bigger kids then little kids."

The National Safety Council urges drivers to be especially alert Monday evening. Watch for children darting into roadways or from behind parked cars.
