On the Way Down

It's the moment we've all been waiting for. Gas prices are finally coming down after reaching record highs last month.

Like the saying goes, what goes up must come down, and if you're a driver you're thanking your lucky stars gas prices have followed suit and are finally on the way down.

Jackie Robinson says, "I think it's good to see them go down; they've been too high."

Steve Goodman adds, "I think it's great, it's a weight off. What else can you say?"

The Energy Information Administration reports that gas prices fell about 50 cents for a gallon of regular gas during the month of October, and along the Gulf Coast, prices dropped as much as 14 cents just in the last week.

But some drivers are asking themselves, can we really get excited over paying $2.49 for a gallon of gas?

Carlos Hughes says, "It's still ridiculous. I'm just waiting on that day to see $2.02 again."

Prices may have fallen, but you can look at it this way too; in Florida and Georgia, we're paying about 50 cents more than we did last year, all for a gallon of gas.

Dan Hilley says, "Let's find a better way of getting to where we need to get that doesn't cost everybody so much money. We need a better way."

And many drivers would probably agree, but for now they say they're just hoping those prices will continue to come down.

Wednesday's average in Florida was about $2.65. In Georgia, $2.42 a gallon. Compare that to the national average of $2.46 a gallon for regular gas.
