Judge Grace Garland Dies at Age 74

Funeral services are scheduled Friday afternoon for the woman who was once chief magistrate in Thomas County.

Grace Garland died Tuesday night at Archbold Memorial Hospital. She was diagnosed with cancer last month. Garland served the people of Thomas County as a clerk of court, justice of the peace, and chief magistrate. She was also the City of Thomasville's municipal court judge.

Constable Bill Williams says, "Judge Garland was a lady of much integrity. She was an inspiration to us all."

Linda Bradley, Clerk of Court, says, "I've been with her for 20 years and she has a very dear place in my heart. I'm gonna miss her. She has been an inspiration not just for me but fort he whole office."

Graveside services for Garland will take place Friday at 3 p.m. at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Thomasville.
