Perry, Florida- August 9, 2012

Officers responded to a report of a burglary at 405 W. Hampton Springs Ave, the site of New Home Baptist Church. During the investigation it was learned that several different types of electronics, computers and DVD movies were stolen.

Local businesses that engage in the business of buying and selling electronics were contacted and given descriptions of the items that were taken. One of the businesses called and told officers that someone had been in the store and attempted to sell some DVD movies and told them that he would return with some electronics in a short period of time to sell them as well. The business gave a description of the person that was attempting to sell the items and they were spotted a short time later.

A plain clothes officer was placed in the store and waited for the return of the subject. The subject returned with electronics that matched the description of the items that were stolen and he was placed under arrest without incident. A search was conducted of the subject’s residence pursuant to a search warrant and stolen property from the burglary was recovered. One additional person was arrested in connection to the burglary.

A total of three burglaries to churches were reported throughout the day on August 8, 2012, all located within close proximity to each other. The other burglaries are being investigated and it appears that they are all linked to the original defendants.
