The Capital Area Red Cross is volunteering to file financial assistance claims, in turn freeing up south Florida chapters to provide hands on assistance.
Right now, Red Cross workers file about 500 claims a day, a small dent in the 33,000 claims coming to Tallahassee. Workers say the process is easy, they just need more people to do it.
Chris Floyd of the Capital Area Red Cross says, "This is very important, very important to be able to continue to help those suffering from the many hurricanes we've had over the last five months."
If you'd like to volunteer, call the Capital Area Red Cross at 850-878-6080. You can help out from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.
