Hurricane season is officially over! This means the Capital Area Chapter of the American Red Cross can take an evening off.
Red Cross volunteers and their families gathered at the 9th annual “end of hurricane season cookout.”
Volunteers say the food was good, the company even better as they shared stories of an unforgettable hurricane season.
Molly Coner, a volunteer, commented on the cookout.
"It's a good feeling to try to say thank you to all the volunteers that have helped ou through the hurricane season starting with Arlene. They do so much for us and this is kind of like a thank you."
The Capital Area Chapter has seen a busy this hurricane season. Volunteers responded to Tropical Storm Arlene and Hurricanes Dennis, Katrina, Rita and Wilma.
