You won't find beer or wine on the menu any time soon at a local pizza parlor.
The city of Sopchoppy voted 4 to 1 against allowing alcohol to be sold at Backwoods Pizza. It's the second request and second denial for the pizza parlor owners who say alcohol sales are imperative to their business. Without it, they say the parlor must close its doors.
Robert Seidler, co-owner, says, "I think what is most unsettling is we crafted an ordinance with the city and thought we had it.”
Ackie Lawhon, Sopchoppy City Clerk, says, "It was almost evenly divided. Those against were residents, those living outside were in majority for the sale of beer and wine.”
For now, Backwoods Pizza is boarded up and remains closed to the public.
