The city of Tallahassee and the Leon County School Board are teaming up to create a first of its kind service center, and it could serve as a national model.
The school board is donating the Wesson School property to the city under an agreement to open the first inter-generational facility serving children and seniors.
Pre-k classes will be offered there, along with the Boys and Girls Club and senior services.
Brenda Tanner, Assistant Director of Neighborhood Community Services, says, "The best part is that we're looking at putting affordable housing on the property, which means the seniors will be living on the property and have access to services provided at this facility."
Tanner says work will begin on moving the services into the Wesson School in August.
