Tallahassee Kids Need Your Help

By  |

We don’t have to tell you that temperatures are dropping.

Tallahassee police say they're noticing that many kids living in the designated weed and seed communities are going out in the cold without coats, so they're collecting coats for the kids.

This is the first year the Police Department has helped out in this way. The department needs at least 300 more coats and jackets.

Only 60 have been donated so far.

Joe Millender, Weed and Seed coordinator with the Tallahassee Police Department says, "I know everybody is helping out with hurricanes and relief and things of the nature, but a lot of the kids in our communities have come from fleeing the hurricanes."

You can donate a new or gently used jacket or coat at the Tallahassee Police Department or at the Police Training Center in the Tallahassee Mall. Police will start handing out the coats next week.
