Friday, a big weekend of college graduations got underway, starting with Florida A&M University.
The day began Friday morning as a handful of FAMU Army ROTC cadets were commissioned as second lieutenants before a room full of family and friends.
Cadets say the road was a rough, but the hard work paid off, and now they're ready for the real world.
"The program here at the ROTC Department prepares you to be a better leader, to be a person out there who people can follow and hopefully, in time, take guidance from,"
says Cadet Nicholas Harrel.
Also on campus, more than 30 future nurses from the FAMU School of Nursing were officially pinned Friday.
More than 800 diplomas were distributed during FAMU's Fall Commencement exercises held at the Leon County Civic Center.
