As tassels were being turned at the Civic Center, a group of men at Doak Campbell Stadium gathered to take a lifelong oath.
The fall 2005 Commissioning Ceremony is described as a "meaningful, powerful ceremony." The ceremony symbolizes the first step the graduates take into the military becoming officers.
Saturday, five men were honored; two Marines and three from the Air Force.
COL Ben F. Young, Jr. was a guest speaker and said, “Consider the definition for you as heroes of ordinary people doing ordinary things, but for extraordinary reasons."
Family and friends watched as the men took the oath of the commissioning proudly and received their first salute as officers.
