More then a dozen families are getting a helpful hand just in time for the holidays.
Members of the Tallahassee Kiwanis Club spent their Saturday morning taking 17 families, 38 children in all, shopping for the holidays.
Organizers say the Leon County school system helped choose these families for the much deserved shopping spree.
Shoppers had $100 to spend, purchasing items the children want and need.
Edna Owens, the organizer for the event, said, "The funds actually come from fundraising things that we do in our club. The funds specifically for this came from an auction we carry on at our club."
Organizers say they've been doing this shopping event for 10 to 15 years, helping hundreds of families during the holiday season.
