Monticello Grandmother Receives Money for Presents

Jackie Thompson is raising 11 grandkids and had no idea what she was going to do for presents. Thompson said she spoke to the kids and told them not to expect a gift this year, but faith stepped in.

The Boys and Girls Club gave her a $300 r shopping spree, making it a merry Christmas for the entire family.

Jackie says, "This is a great blessing to me for someone to reach out and help me. I'm sorry I can't hold my tears back, but I'm very happy."

This happy grandmother is now walking through the aisles at Wal-Mart trying to find the ideal gifts for her grandkids.

Gerrold Austin, Director of Monticello Boys and Girls Club, said, "I can't think of a more better person for this to happen to. It just thrills me that we can do this. I know she's struggling and she does the best she can with what she has, but this is great."

After learning about Thompson, Wal-Mart decided to supply the family with $200 worth of groceries for the holidays, making this a blessed occasion for Monticello woman who was looking at bleak holiday.

The shopping trip was a gift from First American Title in memory of Boys and Girls Club board member Gary McCray, who died this past summer in an automobile accident.
