Lisa Edgar is a member of the Public Service Commission and takes over as chair in the new year.
She was not a member of the PSC when it approved a big hike in phone rates two years ago, but knows people are still angry about it.
She hopes people will eventually see lower rates as a result of increased competition.
Lisa Edgar says, “Nobody likes prices to go up. As the mother of two small children, I certainly don’t like to pay more for anything, but we do have a responsibility to have a fair and affordable rate structure, and we will do everything that we can to guarantee that.”
Edgar says in the coming year, the PSC will consider burying power lines to protect them from hurricane damage and tapping into renewable energy sources like solar and nuclear power.
