Don't want to spend New Year’s slaving away in the kitchen? Well, you're not alone.
The decorations are up, the drinks are chilling, but something is missing. With the hustle and bustle of the holidays, some people just don't want to cook another meal.
That's when many call in reinforcements and hire someone to do the hard work for them.
Justin Chiricos, a local caterer, says, "With parties from office parties to weddings people like to celebrate this time of year."
Many people hire caterers to help with party preparations. They say it frees them from the kitchen and allows families to enjoy more time together.
Claudia Frese, a Tallahassee resident, adds, "I think it's a great idea. If there's someone available to do a better job then I can do, it certainly frees me up to decorate or enjoy my guests."
And if preparing the rack of lamb or oyster appetizers aren't enough, some restaurants will even do the decorating for you, letting customers bring in the new year with no worries.
Katie Gerber, a local server, says, "Especially when you have such festive atmosphere it's nice and it makes you feel special and it makes people your with feel appreciated."
Most people would agree spending more time with loved ones and less time in the kitchen is worth paying the price. Many caterers will drop the meal off a few hours ahead of time so hosts can put on any last minute finishing touches.
