They're only in high school, but that's not stopping them from picking up a hammer and nails and pitching in.

Students from nine Leon County high schools raised $20,000 to begin building a Habitat for Humanity home. The youngsters presented the check to Habitat for Humanity, but they say their work doesn't stop there.

In March the students will begin building a home for a deserving family.

"With this project and Habitat for Humanity we know that these individuals are being directly impacted by us, and you know where it’s going. It's an amazing feeling," said student school board member and Chiles High School senior Mike Jones.

Students plan to break ground in March. They'll work every weekend until the home's expected completion in May.
