A Leon County family is happy to be alive, after a fire rips through their Tallahassee home.
The blaze broke out at the 800 block of Dover Street. Five people were inside when the fire started, including three children.
Luckily everyone was able to make it out safely; unfortunately the home was a total loss. Fire officials estimate the damage to be around $15,000.
"The majority of the fire damage was contained to the back of the house," said Dennis Roberts of the Tallahassee Fire Department.
"Mostly the back bedrooms."
Two cars outside the home were also burned. Firefighters battled the blaze for 20 minutes. The fire is still under investigation.
