A local crisis center in is hoping you will answer their call for help.
211 Big Bend says they are in need of phone counselors. Coordinators say they typically get an influx of calls around this time of year, with many people experiencing depression due to post-holiday blues or financial woes.
Volunteers say the job is very fulfilling.
"We get calls about people going through a crisis, people who are thinking about suicide, and we are trained to answer those calls. It’s just really rewarding to know we can be there to help out."
211 Big Bend will hold a phone counselor training Tuesday, January 31. It will be held at FSU starting at 7 p.m. For more information, call 211.
