Special Olympics Congress at Florida Capitol

At opening ceremonies Wednesday the athletes got a chance to mingle with some of Florida’s government leaders.

One of the group’s top priorities is to expand the number of athletes who can participate in the state games.

Monty Castevens, Special Olympics Florida President, said, "They are the heart and soul of the organization, and giving them these opportunities expands their horizons in so many ways other than being able to help formulate policy for the Special Olympics.”

The congress is made up of 24 delegates representing 14 counties and more than 16,000 athletes.
