Activist Speaks at FAMU

Cornel West was taking pictures and meeting with several FAMU students before his lecture.

The influential but controversial scholar and college professor holding a lecture called A Discussion on Politics.

West says he came to FAMU because he wanted to speak to America's future leaders.

Dr. Cornel West says, "I want ‘em to think more deeply, I want ‘em to be more courageous in their actions and more bold in their visions. Let ‘em know they come out of a great tradition and they have to be in tune with that tradition in order to move into the 21st century with the kind of vision and strength that's necessary."

West is known for his work organizing the Million Man March and National Youth Gang Summits.
