Environmental Protection Agency officials say storm water runoff is the number one threat to our fresh water supply.
The City of Tallahassee's goal, through their Clear Project, is to educate the public on ways to prevent pollution. They're offering a few tips like never pour oil, paint or chemicals on the ground and if you change your own oil there is a proper way to dispose it.
Chris Reeves from Tire Kingdom explains, "They just need to bring it in a little bowl container. They sell them at all the parts warehouses as a sealed unit and then we can take care of it in our disposal unit"
Washing your car on the lawn, properly storing household chemicals and tuning up your vehicle to prevent oil leaks can also help to keep pollutants out of the storm water.
