If you're a dog owner you know how much your canine companion loves to go on walks, but you may want to consider having more than one leash on hand.
Best Friends Dog Rescue founder Laurie Deese says she has three.
She says, "The standard is good for short distances, but can come off with the collar if the dog gets scared. Then there's the retractable.”
Deese knows of one concerning incident.
"He had the dog extended really far and then all of a sudden it darted out to the highway and got hit and died, so if you're next to a major highway, make sure the dog is locked in so it can stay there right with you."
Deese also recommends the rope leash for visits to the vet when you need to be in complete control of your animal.
