North Florida Community College is partnering with the Jefferson County School Board to create the first ever vocational technical center.
The program will be housed at the old Jefferson County High School. Organizers say this joint venture is the ideal tool to help students achieve their career goals.
Debbie Bass says, "It will give young people and adults an opportunity to make a decent living, especially here in Florida. We've got a rise in construction, and those jobs are readily available now."
Students and community members who attend the campus will get a chance pursue careers in a variety of courses including carpentry, electrical and construction.
NFCC received a $165,000 grant from Workforce Florida to create the program.
