Seventy-year-old Thomas G. Merrill was convicted of wire fraud, health care fraud and inappropriate distribution of controlled substances.
The jury also found that Merrill's unlawful prescriptions for controlled substances resulted in the deaths of five people, including two from Franklin County in 2003.
Sentencing is set for April 21 in Pensacola. In addition to life in prison, Merrill faces fines of $1.25 million.
Merrill's attorney says he will appeal the conviction.
