Right now it looks like the doors won't be opening any time soon. Hospital and county officials are still talking. There's no consensus on when they'll be able to reopen the hospital.
In the meantime, county officials are hoping to use the Heath Department located right behind the hospital as a temporary emergency facility to treat patients.
Marlon Brown, the county manager, says, "What we see is a need for health care in Gadsden County, the need for emergency services, so we're starting discussions with the Department of Health on what we can do in the interim while the hospital is closed to provide emergency health services for residents of Gadsden County."
The county is now waiting on data from health officials to see if that move is feasible. They should have some information in the next two or three weeks.
