Tallahassee Police Create Cyber Crime Unit

As more and more criminals trade in their gloves and crow bars for computers, Tallahassee police are now setting up a cyber crime unit to try to catch them.

Three specially trained investigators are now ready to help police solve all kinds of computer-aided crime from identity theft to child pornography.

Police Chief Walt McNeil announced the new cyber crime unit Wednesday morning.

"Most experts in the industry believe the loss in various communities for cyber crime is in the billions of dollars a year. This is not just a private industry or governmental problem, it's a community problem," says McNeil.

The creation of this cyber crime unit also means officers can share information with the FBI and other agencies to try to track computer criminals in the U.S. and abroad.
