Wakulla County may be a rural area, but its Sheriff's Office ranks with some of the best in the state.
Tuesday the Wakulla County sheriff announced both the corrections facility and the law enforcement staff have received re-accreditation.
Sheriff Harvey says his department is one of only two rural counties in the state to receive the distinction for both departments.
Sheriff David Harvey says, "We are ecstatic. You have to be re-accredited every three years and right now we're kind of on cloud nine because we got like 100 percent with our standards with the law enforcement side."
Harvey says he believes they also received 100 percent compliance with the corrections facility as well. Now the department is set for accreditation for the next three years.
