Fourteen-year-old Martin Lee Anderson died just a few hours after he was admitted to the facility in Panama City.
Now members of the Black Caucus want the boot camps shut down, but Gov. Jeb Bush wants to see the results of a state investigation before taking any action.
“My heart goes out to the family. This is the first time I believe that something like this has happened in a boot camp in many years. It’s tragic, but to shut down the boot camps or have a special prosecutor when I haven’t seen the investigation and seen what needs to be done I think is a little premature,” explains Bush.
Anderson’s last minutes were captured on video.
On Friday, Leon Circuit Judge Tom Bateman will hear arguments from media outlets that have sued to get a copy of the videotape.
