Betsy Ross married Ben Franklin in Independence Hall on Thursday evening (07/03).
Okay, so that's not the way it happens in the history books, but remember, love is strange.
For the first time ever, "Here Comes the Bride" sounded off at Independence Hall. With a huge crowd in attendance, "Ben Franklin" and "Betsy Ross" tied the knot.
Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter performed the ceremony.
Ben Franklin's real name is Ralph Archbold. He is a re-enactor for the city. "Betsy Ross" is really Linda Wilde, also a re-enactor. But the wedding was real.
The two met at a party, fell in love and decided to make history.
After the nuptials, the happy couple strolled the cobbled streets and everybody had a good time, even the tourists.
"Ben" and "Betsy" took off in a horse-drawn carriage to the cheers of onlookers.
Honeymoon? Not just yet, After all, it is the height of tourist season.
