Child Seat Safety

Police say they are conducting road checks at major intersections to make sure citizens are buckling themselves and their children.

The police want to educate parents on how to properly install child seats in cars.

Drivers can be fined if a child is not properly secured, but police say it's about education, not writing tickets.

CAPT Ellis Jackson of the Thomasville Police Department says, "Statistics show more children that are restrained properly in the proper restraint devices have a less likelihood of receiving serious injuries or injuries at all as to children not restrained."

Police say if an accident does occur and a child is the car in a child seat, the seat should be replaced even if it's not damaged.
