The new head of the National Primitive Baptist Convention was officially sworn in Monday night.
The convention is holding an inauguration ceremony for Rev. Ernest Ferrell at the Tallahassee Civic Center Tuesday night.
Ferrell is a Tallahassee native and the pastor of St. Mary Primitive Baptist Church on George Street.
He moves into his office with decades of leadership in the Primitive Baptist Convention and a plan of action.
"Move yourself into the 21st century and deal with the issues that affect the church, deal with things that enhance the church and work with people who have the skills to assist us move into levels, I call it uncharted waters,” shares Ferrell.
Several local and national dignitaries attended the inauguration.
The convention includes 1,600 churches and 500,000 members throughout the country.
