A man accused of dropping and killing his two-month-old daughter is now a step closer to standing trial for it.
Twenty-four-year-old Maning Lott was in court Monday afternoon, and after 18 months of treatment and evaluation, the judge declared him competent to stand trial.
Lott was arrested back in August of 2004 after his two-month-old daughter Shaila died of massive head injuries. Lott told police he was playing with the baby, tossing her in the air and accidentally dropped her.
His trial on manslaughter charges is now set for May 1.
