It was a rough start for a Canadian company to make the move to Tallahassee. That's all history as it gets ready to make the transition.

The first official dirt was tossed Monday morning, ushering in the construction of Danfoss-Turbocor's brand new headquarters.

The company builds highly efficient magnetic compressors for air conditioners. The Economic Development Council says the company will bring with it a $16 million payroll.

Joseph Orosz, President of Danfoss-Turbocor, says, “All the people that are coming down, we've got a bunch of people moving down from Canada and they're already to go, so I think the faster the better at this point, we're happy to get moving."

The building, which is partially owned by the City of Tallahassee and Innovation Park, is expected to be completed by June.

Danfoss-Turbocor is still looking to hire about 50 people. Resumes can be turned in to Tallahassee Community College's Economic and Workforce Development Center or Workforce Plus.
