A confession has come from a Hamilton County man accused of killing a woman, but police say the motive is still not adding up.
Harold Hand of Jasper told the Madison County sheriff that he killed Geraldine Konan because she attacked him. The sheriff says that sounds a little unbelievable considering how she was found dead, shot in the back and in the face.
Thirty-seven-year-old Harold Hand is arrested for murder. On private property in Lee, Florida is where Madison County sheriff’s deputies arrested Harold Hand. The body of Geraldine Konan was found in a wooded area some 300 yards away.
Pete Bucher, Madison County Sheriff, says, "Mr. Garcia came back on a four-wheeler and was all excited and reported to the officers that were there that he had located the body of a white female back in some planted pines on his property."
Forty-six-year-old Geraldine Konan is from Massachusetts and owns land in Lee near Madison County. Hand was found in Konan's rented car. Two others with him were also arrested, Gilbert Jones and the driver, Cynthia Taylor.
Jones and Taylor are in jail charged with possession of crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia.
Harold hand is also still in jail. He is charged with the first degree murder of Geraldine Konan.
