A brush fire in Wakulla County is now out.
Luckily it was all part of a training simulation. The Wakulla County Fire Department held an open house Saturday.
The event was open to the public so the firefighters could show off their skills.
One thing firefighters performed was an extrication, simulating a driver trapped in a vehicle because of an accident.
Allen Harvey, the chief of fire training, says, "It gives the community the opportunity to come out and see not only our equipment, but our skills. We practice almost every skill we would need in real fire situation."
The nine departments that make up the Wakulla Fire Department are put together by all volunteers. Some of these men and women don't get a paycheck for risking their lives battling fires.
