Leon County is on the road to getting funding for a major improvement project.
Tuesday night county commissioners voted in favor of reallocating Blueprint 2000 funds. Instead of using that money to fund the Mahan Drive widening project, the county hopes to get financial assistance from the state.
"As of right now it’s looking promising. We're cautiously optimistic, but it is promising that we're gonna be able to get Mahan on the SIS system and then hopefully we'll be able to get SIS funding for it," said Executive Director of the Blueprint 2000 project, Jim Davis.
If the state SIS money comes through, the funds will be used to widen Mahan Drive from Dempsey Mayo to the interstate on the east side of town.
