A few area seniors were in the spotlight Thursday. Josephine Naspinkski was one of seven local seniors honored as a Silver Star, a recognition which goes to seniors who have been a great asset to their community.
Naspinkski, who is a young 86 years old, volunteers with Big Bend Hospice and with Kate Sullivan Elementary. She says in all of her years she has never received an award.
"I was just amazed. I was just so moved to think that at this late stage in my life I would receive an honor like this," says Naspinkski.
Others honored at the Tallahassee Senior Center included John O'Ferrell, Margaret Hamilton, Archie Johnston, Dr. Charles Matthews, Edwina Stephens and Walter Eaton.
