A couple of this area's favorite musicians are packing up and heading to the Middle East.
Vocalist Pam Laws and pianist Marvin Goldstein are heading to Israel and will perform with Arab and Jewish musicians at several places, including Jerusalem.
The concerts, intended to promote peace, will feature Arabic, modern Hebrew, American jazz and pop styles of music. It's something Goldstein has been working on for a number of years.
"It will be Arabs and Jews and Americans, Catholics and Baptists and anyone who happens to be visiting the country will come together and witness how music will overcome their differences," says Goldstein.
"We will bridge gaps and cross boundaries, just being on the same stage together, so for a school teacher from Tallahassee to have an opportunity to participate in this effort is just humbling," says Laws.
The trip is funded largely by the Tallahassee Community College Foundation. The concerts run from April 27 through May 13.
