Tax Freedom Day

This year it's taking three days longer than last year and 10 days longer than in 2004 and 2003.

Americans are working an average of 77 days to take care of their federal taxes and another 39 days to cover state and local taxes.

Timothy Strader, a taxpayer, said, "I feel like I should be making, taking home what I get and I know there's a fine line because part of our freedom is our freedom to take home what we earned, but I earn a certain amount of money and then the government gets their personal grab at it, that doesn't seem quite right, but I know it's important."

Slow income growth and tax cuts caused the relatively early freedom days in 2003 and 2004.
