New School Just About Ready

Suwannee County school officials say construction of the new elementary school is progressing well, expecting to open the doors early to mid-August.

The school will serve about 760 second and third grade students. The new facility is being named Suwannee Elementary School and the current elementary school will be changed to Suwannee Intermediate.

Bill Yanossy, Assistant Superintendent of Suwannee County Schools, says, "We're just excited. It's been a busy year making all of the transitions from the two schools into the one school. We're looking forward to a busy summer and a new beginning in 06-07."

The principal and assistant principal already named for the new Suwannee Elementary School: Lila Udell and Steven Bass.
