World Trade Fair

Treasures from all across the continent made their way to Tallahassee as part of World Trade Day.

10,000 Villages is a non-profit store in Market Square that supports the fair trade movement. The store pays artisans in developing countries for their work.

With the money earned, artists are able to pay for food, housing, and education.

Emily Albee, the manager at 10,000 Villages, said, "We work with artisans who would otherwise be unemployed or underemployed, and by paying them upfront for their work and paying them once the product reaches the U.S., they're never going into debt to make products for us."

World Trade buys items from all over including Haiti, Vietnam, and Kenya. Those supporting the movement say by purchasing one or two things, they can make a difference around the world.
