An afternoon blaze destroys a Tallahassee home and kills the family pets.
Tallahassee fire fighters say the home is a total loss.
A neighbor called 9-1-1 after she spotted flames coming out of home in the 100 block of Goose Creek Trail around 1 p.m. Friday.
Firefighters on the scene say there was more fire then they were anticipating and had to call in another alarm.
The blaze was out forty five minutes later, but the house could not be saved.
"We passed, just by the house and I looked into the garage and the garage door was open and the house was in flames in the garage,” says neighbor Kelly Ruggles.
"No one was at home at the time of the fire...we went through and confirmed that, but on the bad side, the homeowners did lose two pets which was two cats,” says Tallahassee Fire Department Battalion Chief Michael Robinson.
The Red Cross was on scene to assist the family. Firefighters estimate damages at about $355,000, the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
