A former Tallahassee nurse is being held on $2 million bond out in San Diego, accused of molesting a comatose child. Now police want to be sure Christopher Irvin didn't cross the line with any children in his care here.
Thirty-two-year-old Christopher Irvin is under arrest in California, accused of sexually molesting a comatose four-year-old girl while on duty as a nurse at San Diego Children's Hospital.
During a search of Irvin's apartment, San Diego police uncovered child porn and the names of six children who live in Tallahassee.
OFC David McCranie of the Tallahassee Police Department said, "The Tallahassee Police Department was contacted by a California law enforcement agency in May. They indicated that we may have possible victims here because they had a young juvenile victim in California. They provided some names and we followed up on those names to determine if we had any victims here. As of this time, we have not found any victims in Tallahassee."
Irvin used to work at Tallahassee Memorial. According to a hospital spokesman, he worked as a nurse from May of 2000 to February of 2004 and spent most of that time in pediatrics.
A check with the Florida Board of Nursing didn't reveal any disciplinary action against Irvin. TMH contends his personnel file at the hospital is off limits, but spokesman Warren Jones says there is nothing in it to indicate Irvin abused any patients while he was here.
According to court records, Irvin kept journals at his home which detailed his fascination with theme parks, his attempts to volunteer at kid-friendly agencies and even his hopes to adopt a child.
Tallahassee police have not been able to turn up any evidence that Irvin molested children in Tallahassee. However, if you have information about any dealings he had with children while he lived in Tallahassee, you're asked to call Crime Stoppers at 891-HELP.
