Recreation and Disabled Children

The Department of Health is recognizing the importance of physical activity for disabled children and providing the Florida Disabled Outdoors Association with a grant to start new programs.

The president of FDOH says the pilot program will work with 20 disabled kids.

David Jones, President, said, "It's exciting because the Department of Health realizes the need to treat people with disabilities with some special attention because they're not normally reached in their regular programs."

Jones says the grant will be used to help children with disabilities in Leon, Gadsden, and Wakulla Counties achieve barrier-free access to physical activity and recreation.
