Former Thomasville Officer Sentenced

A former officer with the Thomasville Police Department was in court Friday.

Tony Entrekin had only been on the force for 11 months when he was arrested for having sex with a female in his custody and violation of oath of office in July of 2005.

Assistant district attorney Ray Auman says last month Entrekin pleaded guilty to both charges.

Rachelle Denmark, a spokesperson for the Thomasville Police Department, says, "As a police officer it's disheartening when someone who has been given the trust of the community violates that trust."

Entrekin was found guilty on both offenses, which are felonies. Entrekin has been sentenced to six years in the state penitentiary and two years of probation.
