Tallahassee firefighters are in the midst of search and rescue training, and they're doing it in the end zone at Doak Campbell Stadium.
Learning how to rig the pulleys and traverse the field is actually giving them the skills they might need to pull someone from a raging river or rescue someone from a burning building.
CAPT Jon Rigolo, instructor, said, "Hopefully never in a firefighter's career would they have to do this. Using rope rescue is very dangerous, or at least it can be dangerous, so we strive to never have to do it. However, we have the skills to do it."
This advanced rope rescue training prepares Tallahassee firefighters to help in the event of both natural disasters and terror attacks.
