A Sam's Club cashier is in hot water with the law after police say she scammed more than a dozen elderly customers.
Tallahassee police say 23-year-old Dawn Smith began scamming customers a few weeks ago.
Investigators say when customers would swipe their Sam's Club cards, Smith would distract them and punch in "cash back," then take the cash for herself.
OFC John Newland with the Tallahassee Police Department said, "It came to Sam's attention when about 15 customers started noticing overages on their bills, and that's when they started looking into Miss Smith and they looked at the video tape, and sure enough that's how they got her."
Smith is charged with credit card fraud and theft to the tune of more than $1,000. When questioned by police, she denied the accusations.
